Finals Structure

OVer the past year or so we've moved to a best two-of-three semis/finals format, where once we get to the top 4, 1st plays 4th best 2-of-3, and 2nd plays 3rd, then winners play for 1st and 2nd and losers play for 3rd and 4th.

The advantage of this is that it's better for competition - your finish isn't decided by one game (so you can make up for an error or just a bad game), and 1st and 2nd isn't decided by a final game against a 3rd or 4th place team in a round-robin bracket.

The downside is it's 1 to 3 more games per team, and 2-6 more games overall, so it makes the schedule run a bit longer.

So, for anywhere other than nationals, which would you prefer, 4-team round robin (3 games per team against all three teams) or best two of three (2-3 games against one team, then another 2-3 games against another team)?
