Class A: Mercy rule
If at any time after the end of the first half the score differential is 8 or more points (e.g. 8-0, 9-1,10-2 etc) the match is over.
In this case, I set it up since we were playing outdoors in early Nov and I wanted to end games more quickly. It actually happened twice (Rutgers v UConn and UMD v UConn) and both times the score at the end of the first half was 0-8.
Now, in talking with Chris about it, we thought about making this Class A wide other than Nationals and possibly World Cup.
Here are some pros and cons:
Pros
-Events end earlier
-Both teams end up shooting less paint in a game that is essentially over.
Cons
-Both teams get less playing time (up to an entire half). This means that new/inexperienced teams don't get as much play time and the better teams don't get to play their 2nd and 3rd string guys.
Those are the high points, so what are everyone's thoughts?
